Manage Data Mapping

Data mapping connects a field from your external data source to an employee field in Introist.

Managing your mappings ensures the right information flows between systems, keeping your automations accurate and up to date.

View Existing Mappings

  1. Go to Data → Data Sources.

  2. Select the data source you want to manage.

  3. You’ll see a list of mappings, each showing:

    • Data source field → Introist employee field

    • Any transformation logic applied

Add a New Mapping

  1. In the mapping view, click Add mapping.

  2. Select the data source field you want to import.

  3. Select the Introist employee field to map it to.

  4. Click Save.

⚠️ You cannot set transformation logic during creation — transformations are added afterward.

Show & Update Fields

Use this when your data source has changed and you want to refresh the available fields.

  1. In the mapping view, click Show fields.

  2. A new view opens, showing the list of existing data source fields currently known to Introist.

  3. Click Update Fields to pull the latest list from the data source.

  4. Review any new fields and create mappings as needed.

Edit a Mapping

  1. Find the mapping you want to update.

  2. Click the three dots menu next to it.

  3. Select Edit and choose a different target field.

  4. Click Save.

Add a Transformation

Transformations allow you to modify incoming data before it’s stored in Introist.

  1. Find the mapping you want to transform.

  2. Click the three dots menu next to it.

  3. Select Add transformation.

  4. Write and test your transformation function.

  5. Click Save.

Remove a Mapping

  1. Find the mapping you want to remove.

  2. Click the three dots menu next to it.

  3. Select Remove.

  4. Confirm the action in the dialog.

Best Practices

  • Keep mappings simple and clear — avoid mapping multiple source fields to the same Introist field unless needed.

  • Refresh fields regularly to ensure new data source fields are available.

  • Use transformations for formatting, value changes, or calculations.
